Abstract (English):
Introduction. In today's world, characterized by dynamic transformation, there remains a strong interest among advanced countries in exporting their education systems, which have substantial political and ideological significance. Meanwhile, many individuals continue to seek higher education abroad. However, studying in a foreign cultural environment poses numerous issues at various levels and also requires comprehensive reflection and analysis from different disciplines. The aim of this study is theoretical analysis of the legal and psychological status of foreign students studying in Russia, as well as its interrelation, functional and descriptive characteristics. Methods. A transdisciplinary approach is applied to define and clarify the legal and psychological status of foreign students studying in the Russian Federation. This approach allows to overcome the boundaries of a discipline, expand the horizons of scientific cooperation and enter the practical problem solving faced by foreign students. Results. Legal status is considered on the basis of legislative papers in the context of particularly significant legal norms that regulate social interactions and ensure the legitimacy of the rights and obligations of foreign students. Psychological status is defined as qualitative characteristic that indicates foreign students' successful social adaptation to new academic, living and communicative environment, as well as their emotional well-being. The results obtained underline the connection between the legal and psychological status of foreign students. This is crucial to ensure a good study environment and social adaptation, taking into account cultural peculiarities. In addition, the results of the study contribute to solving the legal, informational, academic, communicative and psychological issues and challenges faced by foreign students studying in Russian higher education institutions.
