Introduction. This study is driven by the urgent need to identify new means of improving political and educational work within the Russian Ministry of the Interior’s institutions. This paper focuses on leveraging the command staff meeting as a vehicle for political awareness and educational development to advance this aspect of professional training. Methods. The study is based on historical and formal-logical analysis, as well as the examination of legal documents and regulations. Results. A historical comparison of regulations on political and educational work reveals that the current reform of the professional and ethical development system within the Interior Ministry aims to counter key threats and secure the resilience of the national law enforcement framework. The authors explore ways to enhance the efficacy of personnel development in order to meet the objectives set forth in the Russian Ministry of the Interior Order No. 500 of 27 August 2024, “On the Approval of the Regulations on the Organisation of Moral and Psychological Support for the Activities of the Russian Law Enforcement Agencies”. Currently, there exist organisational and economic constraints that hinder the widespread use of formal education in the professional training of personnel at educational institutions within the Russian Ministry of the Interior. Therefore, this article explores the potential of utilising the internal resources of these institutions for staff development based on the principles of nonformal education. A key role in this process is assigned to enhancing the interaction between the head of an educational institution and the heads of its structural units during command staff meetings. The aim of this interaction is to facilitate the transfer of professional knowledge and personal experience, as well as to disseminate best practices in professional activity.
