Introduction. Psychological and pedagogical support of students’ acts as an important factor of cooperation between the subjects of the educational process on the way of overcoming of the objective and subjective difficulties of socialisation of the young generation. Competence, timeliness and sensitivity are the driving criteria for the effectiveness of teachers’ care for their trainees. Mental burnout is typical not only for adult representatives of the so-called assisting professions, but also for the young generation that is entering the active phase of social life, formation of necessary knowledge and skills, skills of defending one’s own individuality. The aim of the study is to identify the criteria of the effectiveness of the psychological and pedagogical support of students in the situation of psychological burnout. Research methods. Analysis of scientific literature and results of sociological research concerning the essence, factors-indicators, ways of preventing student’s mental burnout. The article presents the results of studying students and teachers, opinions of Voronezh higher and secondary educational institutions about the specified aspects of mental burnout. The empirical basis of the study was the survey results, testing of college students, standardised interview of teachers conducted in November-December 2024 in Voronezh. 200 people participated in the study. Results. Understanding of the essence, structural elements, factors-indicators and burnout prevention contributes to productive educational and training activity in general and economical use of energy expenditures of students in the context of their preparation for the future professional activity in particular. The high level of psychological and pedagogical support in the situation of burnout depends on the integrated organisation of the process providing assistance, personalised-oriented approach to the constructive interaction, teacher experience in the field of practical psychology, his social and psychological competence, personality diagnosis. An important consequence of the support is the development of young people ability to reflect on their own state of mind and the ability to prevent the emergence of the factors and conditions that facilitate mental burnout.
