Introduction.The article studies the problem of deviation of Russian spiritual and moral values in the conditions of globalisation. Due to the aggressive international policy pursued towards Russia by unfriendly countries, the problem of preservation and inheritance of traditional spiritual values becomes urgent. Traditional spiritual values are based on religious and moral principles that have archetypal and dogmatic nature. Methods. The following methods were used in writing the article. The method of historical reconstruction, which made it possible to reproduce the system of traditional spiritual and moral values in diachrony and synchronicity of Russian culture as fully and accurately as possible. As a result of its use, this phenomenon can be considered not only in its original form, but also in subsequent forms of expression, taking into account possible transformation. The method of comparative analysis allowed us to compare domestic and Western European spiritual and moral values. Currently, Western European spiritual values are identified as anti-values. The hermeneutic method made it possible to clarify the semantic nature of traditional spiritual and moral values not only in the accepted and established semantic format, but also based on the author's own mental attitude. The author's interpretation of the main theoretical and historical principles underlying the understanding of the spiritual nature of the consciousness of the Russian people is important. Results. It is determined that spiritual traditions are divided into conservative and progressive. A progressive tradition demonstrates the possibilities of deviation, which under some circumstances can reveal its vitality and increase its potential, while under other circumstances it can lead the tradition to destruction. Traditional spiritual values play an important role in the preservation of national identity, contributing to the successful resistance of society to external challenges and threats.
