At the turn of the era: deviantology in search of subjectness and new meanings (A review of the proceedings of Section VII of the All-Russian Sociological Congress)

Abstract:
This article reviews the deviantology section of the 7th All-Russian Sociological Congress of the Russian Sociological Society (RSS), held in Moscow from 1 to 3 November 2025. The Congress included a section on the sociology of deviant behaviour (deviantology). The title of the scientific event was “Deviant Behaviour and Sociocultural Transformations: Adaptation Strategies of Various Groups in the Context of New Social Risks”. The participants in the deviantology section included representatives from the Institute of Sociology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Faculty of Geography at Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Kazan Law Institute of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Kuban State University and others (over 20 participants in total). Based on the conference proceedings, a set of theoretical and practical recommendations has been drawn up, which are planned to be implemented as part of RSS’s academic activities.
