Introduction. One of the means of developing professional competencies in the employees of the internal affairs bodies of the Russian Federation is fire training. Currently, there is a need for more intensive training of employees of the internal affairs bodies for service in special conditions. In this regard, improving their fire training requires the development of original methods and technologies, including those related to conducting off-site classes (selection of exercises, determination of the sequence of their implementation, optimization of the assessment system). The emergence of such methods will contribute to increasing the level of professional training of employees of the internal affairs bodies. The article presents the results of testing a scientific and pedagogical study, which was carried out in order to develop a methodology for conducting off-site classes on shooting training. Methods. The study analyzed literary sources, video materials, regulatory acts, selected preparatory exercises, conducted pedagogical observation, and used methods of mathematical statistics. Results. The methods of mathematical statistics allowed us to determine the positive impact of the methodology for conducting field training sessions on firearms training developed within the framework of the study on the indicators characterizing the shooting skills of employees of territorial internal affairs bodies and cadets of the educational organization of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. It was concluded that the development of methodological support for the process of training police officers in shooting from automatic weapons is a promising direction for further scientific research.
