Relevance. the idea of employees about the managerial potential of the head is one of the conditions that determine intra-group relations and the socio-psychological climate in the service team. Purpose: to identify the connection of the components of the managerial potential of the head with the peculiarities of intra-group relations and the socio-psychological climate in service teams, as well as to establish differences in the severity of these parameters among employees of the internal affairs bodies. Hypotheses: there is a connection between the assessment by employees of the managerial potential of the head with the peculiarities of intra-group relations in the service team; assessment of management potential by employees (the manager can act as a determinant of intra-group relations in the service team and the climate in it; there are differences in the severity of managerial potential among the manager according to the estimates of employees with different socio-psychological climate in the service team. Participants: The respondents were 158 employees of the internal affairs bodies who underwent advanced training at the St. Petersburg University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia (St. Petersburg). All examined males, aged 27 to 39 years. Methods (tools): questionnaire "Subjective assessment of intragroup relations" (S.V. Dukhnovsky, K.V. Zlokazov), to identify the functional-positive and negative characteristics of intragroup relations and their ratio, which allows determining the socio-psychological climate in the team; questionnaire "Leader. Manager. Expert "(S.V. Dukhnovsky), to assess personal and professional competencies - managerial potential and its components: leadership, expert, management. Results: positive connections were established between the "leadership," "managerial" and "expert" components of managerial potential with the functional-positive characteristics of intra-group relations and their common index - an indicator of the socio-psychological climate. It has been established that the assessment by employees of the managerial potential of the head acts as a determinant of intragroup relations in the service team of the climate in it. It is shown that there are significant differences in the assessments of the managerial potential of managers, employees with different socio-psychological climate in the service teams. Key findings. An increase in employees' assessments of the managerial potential of a manager is accompanied by an increase in indicators of functional and positive characteristics of intra-group relations and a favorable socio-psychological climate in the service team. Management determinants affecting the climate in the service team, in the opinion of employees, are: strategic leadership, competence of social interaction, managerial competence, readiness for teamwork, scale of thinking, expert competence, as well as the general level of managerial potential of the head. In a group of employees who assess their climate in the service team as favorable, the manager has, in their opinion, a higher severity of managerial potential than in a group of employees with a moderately favorable socio-psychological climate in the team.
