Introduction. The article is devoted to the development of recommendations for improving state policy in the field of environmental safety. Currently, environmental safety is an integral part of the policy of any developed state concerned about the environmental situation in the country, as well as the quality of life and health of its citizens and future generations. The problems of the quality of the environment, active industrial and economic activities and other forms of anthropogenic impact on the environment have a direct impact on the level of environmental safety. In order to take control of existing problems and prevent the emergence of new ones, it is necessary to conduct a competent state environmental policy. Methods. The following methods of scientific cognition are used in the work: analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, generalization, classification, historical analysis, modeling, methods of systematic and statistical analysis, analysis of normative legal documents, the method of comparison. Results. The developed proposals for improving environmental safety mechanisms, due to their versatility, can be used in other regions of the Russian Federation. To this end, it is necessary to create and systematically implement a unified state policy in the field of environmental safety and conservation of natural resources aimed at preserving the environment, justifiable and rational use and extraction of natural renewable and non-renewable resources.
