The article presents the results of a study of the personality structure of a forensic expert who committed official forgery in the course of his forensic activities. The author examined the socio-demographic, professional, psychological properties and qualities of the forensic expert who committed such an act. The study of these characteristics of a forensic expert is necessary in order to identify patterns in the emergence of forensically significant elements in the structure of the criminal’s personality, the knowledge of which will make it possible to develop effective means and methods for identifying, solving and investigating crimes committed by persons of the category under consideration. Examples from judicial and investigative practice are given. The conclusion about the theoretical significance of studying the personality structure of a forensic expert who committed a crime within the framework of forensic activity is made on the basis of behavioral models that make it possible to understand the circumstances of the commission of unlawful acts
