Abstract (English):
Introduction. The article presents the results of a research of family and domestic crime in the Russian Federation – one of the most socially dangerous and latent phenomena of modern reality. The subjects of the research were crime rates, determinants, personality traits of the aggressor and the victim, and areas of prevention of crimes committed in family and quasi-family relationships. The objective of the research was to identify the criminological specifics of family and domestic crime in order to develop scientifically based recommendations for its prevention and improvement of legal regulation of this area. Methods. The research used analysis and synthesis, a systems approach, comparative legal, statistical, sociological methods, and criminological analysis. The research was based on a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach, which made it possible not only to systematize scientific ideas about family and domestic crime but also to formulate proposals for organizing its prevention. Results. The concept of family and domestic crime covers a wide range of crimes against life and health, sexual integrity, and the interests of the family and minors. It is characterized by high latency and recidivism. The research identified a multi-layered system of determinants of family and domestic crime, ranging from socioeconomic factors (unemployment, poverty) to cultural stereotypes that tolerate violence. The results of a study of the personality of the aggressor and victim demonstrated the asymmetry of their relationship, based on power and control, the cyclical nature of violence, and the helplessness of its victims. It was established that effectively combating family and domestic crime requires a comprehensive approach integrating legislative improvements (including the introduction of protective regulations), social support, psychological assistance, and cultural and educational measures.
